The Naked Coral Tree is native to eastern Mexico, at elevations of 2, to 8, feet. Some leaves fall at owering time. Franceschi listed only Erythrina crista-galli and proceeded to introduce 10 additional species in the 20 years he remained in Santa Barbara. Glad to have this great species in my collection. There is also a variant of this tree called Erythrina coralloides 'bicolor'.
